Who are we?

New Mexico State Assembly is a non-profit organization of the Association of Surgical Technologist. Surgical Technologist are the unseen surgical team members that are also comprised of surgeons, circulating nurses and anesthesiologists. This role is a highly trained position to assist with surgeries by preparing the operating room, seting up the sterile instruments, drapes and equipment, and anticipating the needs of surgeons.

What Our Goals Are

The NMSA goals are to enhance the profession and ensure quality patient care. Some of the ways NMSA works to promote the profession include, providing continuing education opportunities to advance the knowledge and skill base of surgical technologists. To set standards for education and ensure that institutions hire only trained surgical technologists that have the knowledge and skill to administer patient care of the highest quality.
